MALI
During the class, each of us was assigned a country to read about in Hungry Planet by Peter Menzel, Faith D'Aluisio, and Marion Nestle.
We also did a deeper research on each country.
I read and did research on Mali, so I would like to share what I found!
Hungry Planet talked about the food culture in Mali based on Natomo Family.
This is the family tree of them.
This ⬇︎is the actual picture of the family.
I will go into a bit further detail about food culture there.
Mali is known for having a slow food culture.
This is the graph of how this family spends their money on food.
It shows that they spend most of their money on Grains/Starchy food, and the least on prepared food. It shows that they eat what they can get from the local store, and prepare food by themselves. They eat fruits and vegetables but since they don't have refrigerators, it was interesting to know that many of their fresh foods are dried.
So we went through what food culture in Mali is like, but let's compare it with our Japanese food culture.
Also, I did a deeper research on Mali.
